Your Son Falling

We can not protect and coddle them but WE must remind them that they are loved, we see them, we are curious about them everyday and that they are worth knowing.

The blankets were falling to the very edge of my bed but even in my deep sleep I could feel them about to slide right off.

I reached down and quickly grasped the bit remaining and it was such a close call, almost too late. As I grabbed it was slipping… the very last inch almost impossible to get my hands on.

It is just a blanket right? It wasn’t even the only blanket but it brought an unrelated message. As I pulled it up securely to where it belongs, I thought of my boy who struggles a lot these days and how even though it’s exhausting I keep pulling him up.

I can not save him from his choices but I can bring him back to that safe secure place which is home and is love. This is what we must do. We can not protect and coddle them but WE must remind them that they are loved, we see them, we are curious about them everyday and that they are worth knowing.
